A young Aussie has explained why they dislike Australia – but still chooses to stay despite considering it a racist country.

The young man spoke out after being approached by social media star Jasky Singh on the street for a video that has been posted to social media.

Mr Singh asked him what he thought of Australia Day.

‘Well, today is a day that celebrates genocide, and that’s what we’re here to oppose,’ he said.

‘We think that it’s not a day to celebrate and I don’t think Australia should be celebrated at all actually.’

Mr Singh asked why he believe Australia should not be celebrated.

The man pointed to the historical and ongoing mistreatment of Indigenous Australians, stating that they face oppression on a daily basis.

‘It was founded on the genocide of the Indigenous people and like the ongoing dispossession of land and oppression of Indigenous people in prisons,’ he said.

‘Like deaths in police custody, torture in prisons of children driven to suicide, like it happens, you know, that’s the kind of system Australia is every day. ‘

He went on to say Australia is a ‘racist country’ and ‘racist state’.

Mr Singh appeared to be shocked at his answer, and said he was happy about living in Australia after migrating to another country.

‘For me, as a migrant, I’m really happy I live here. It’s very interesting for me to hear that someone who lives here does not like Australia.

The young Aussie hit back, saying: ‘I think Australia is really racist against migrants as well. You see Liberal politicians whipping up anti-migrant hysteria all the time. ‘

Mr Singh then asked why he wouldn’t just move to another country if he disliked Australia so much.

The young man labelled Australia as a 'racist country' and claimed to not like Australia 'at all'. He added he would not move out of Australia despite his feelings, claiming Aussies should fight against racism

‘No, because I think we should fight oppression and inequality.

‘Racism is caused by capitalism, and we need to overthrow capitalism to get rid of racism. Get rid of it. Get rid of racism.’

Aussies were divided about the young man’s views.

‘Gen Z is the lost generation. They are brain washed and can’t think for themselves. They need a wake-up call,’ one said.

‘This person was already on the defensive from the start. Gen Z says they are open-minded but only if their views are agreed with,’ a second added.

Others labelled the young man a legend and said he made some interesting points.

‘I’m not Gen Z, but he has some interesting thoughts. Seemed a little nervous, but that’s understandable in that situation,’ one person commented.

A second person wrote: ‘Love his response, absolute legend.’

A third added: ‘He’s very articulate. Kudos to young people like him fighting for a cause they believe in.’
