''We Tried Everything'': Comedian Trevor Noah's Bengaluru Shows Cancelled Over 'Technical Issues'

International comedian Trevor Noah’s fans in Bengaluru were disappointed when his show was abruptly canceled due to technical problems. Many attendees took to social media to express their frustration. 

The show, initially scheduled for 7.30 pm on September 27, started nearly 30 minutes late and ended abruptly due to poor acoustics that made it difficult for the audience to hear.

On Wednesday evening, Trevor Noah posted an apology on his social media account, expressing regret for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to his fans.

He also announced the cancellation of his shows at the Manpho Convention Centre, originally scheduled for September 27 and 28.

His tweet read, “Dear Bengaluru, India, I was so looking forward to performing in your amazing city, but we’ve been forced to cancel both shows due to technical issues.

”We tried everything, but there’s no way to do a show because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage. We’ll make sure all ticket holders receive a full refund, and again, I’m so sorry for both the inconvenience and disappointment; this has never happened to us before,” he added. 

Trevor Noah began his ‘Off the Record’ tour in India with a show in Delhi on September 23. 

However, fans in Bengaluru were upset when the show there was canceled. They criticized the organizers for problems such as limited parking, inadequate air conditioning, a crowded venue, and narrow roads.

One user shared, ”Trevor has been Bangalored—not in a nice way, though! The joke is on Silicon City.”

Another comment read: ”Had got front row seats for this amazing show because I kind of knew the venue was bad and nothing would be audible at the back. My friends are traveling from another part of the country to see this!! This is really sad.”

A third one wrote: ”Bengaluru wanted to experience Trevor Noah, but Trevor Noah ended up experiencing Bengaluru.”

Many attendees shared videos from the venue, revealing that Trevor Noah had come on stage but left because of audio problems.

Some expressed their frustration about the situation.

Trevor Noah began his ‘Off The Record’ tour in India at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on September 22. He continued with two more shows in Delhi on September 23 and 24.

He was scheduled to perform live at the Manpho Convention Centre in Bengaluru on September 27 and 28 and then at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai on September 30 and October 1.

Looking forward to his India tour, Trevor Noah previously mentioned to ANI, “After a lifetime of loving India’s culture, I’m so excited to finally have the privilege of bringing my current stand-up comedy tour to one of the most exciting countries in the world!”
