Alix Earle’s supersonic rise to stardom has been swift and surprising for the TikTok sensation, who has found herself thrown into the glaring spotlight of fame.
But thankfully, she’s found herself the perfect person to go to for advice when it comes to dealing with the darker side of life in the spotlight: her stepmother Ashley Dupré.
Dupré, a former escort, knows all to well what it means to suddenly find yourself the center of much public scrutiny, having found herself in that exact position when she became embroiled in a public scandal in 2008 with the then-Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, when she was 22.
Now Earle, who is the same age as her stepmother was when the Spitzer scandal unfolded, has opened up about how Dupré is helping her to navigate the more difficult aspects of public notoriety in a new interview with Elle.

The New Jersey native is known as the internet’s ‘Hot Best Friend’
No stranger to being the subject of very public criticism, Dupré was more than happy to share advice on how to handle the pitfalls of fame – with Earle gushing that bonding over how to handle public criticism has made them ‘closer’ than ever.
When Earle – who shot to fame last year after her Get Ready With Me TikToks went viral – was struggling with the sudden onslaught of attention, she reached out to her father Thomas Earle, who suggested she chat to Dupré instead.
‘One time I was overwhelmed about something of mine and I called my dad,’ the New Jersey native told Elle.
‘He was like, ‘You should really talk to Ashley about this,’ she recalled. ‘She has dealt with this before, stuff in the media.’
Earle, who has openly spoken out about her struggles with acne, friendship, relationships, depression, anxiety, and the overall realities that come with being a social media star, was more than open to Dupré’s guidance.
‘Life goes on,’ she said, when asked what advice Dupré gave her. ‘Not everything is as crazy as it feels in the moment. People get past things.’
Her wise words have not only helped Earle with her sudden stardom, but mended some cracks in the family.
‘It’s brought us closer because she’s able to guide me through it,’ the recent University of Miami graduate explained. ‘Whatever’s happened in the past, we’ve all gotten past it as a family.’

Earle added it’s not the negative comments aren’t the ones that bother her, but rather the ones that ‘aren’t true.’
‘You can’t control everything and what everyone thinks. It’s really just about being happy offline, and then you can be yourself online,” she said, admitting being in the public eye can be a little ‘stressful.’
‘I like to share what goes on in my life with my followers,’ Earle continued. ‘But there are also some moments that you have to keep private.’
Dupré herself knows all about facing public scrutiny having been thrust into the center of a furious political scandal back in 2008, when it was revealed that she’d had an encounter with Spitzer, the then-Governor of New York, who was married at the time.
When Spitzer was accused of paying Dupré – who was using the name Kristen – $2,000 for sex at a Washington hotel the night before Valentine’s Day, a can of worms was opened that revealed the Governor’s long-time penchant for expensive call girls and culminated in his resignation.
Initially, Dupré’s real identity was kept under wraps, however after she was exposed as the call girl who ultimately sparked Spitzer’s downfall, she found herself subjected to ferocious scrutiny.
In an interview with ABC News months after the scandal first broke, Dupré, who was hired by Spitzer through high-end escort service Emperor’s Club V.I.P., insisted that she didn’t believe she had been solely responsible for his political demise.

‘If it wasn’t me, it would have been someone else,’ she said. ‘I was doing my job. I don’t feel that I brought him down.’
She was then embroiled in further controversy when it was revealed she’d had an affair with Earle’s father, Thomas, while he was still married to his ex-wife, Alisa – Earle’s mother.
Thomas later divorced his former spouse and went on to propose to Dupré in 2012.
Earle’s own rise to fame began in a slightly more wholesome way last year, when the then-college student started posted Get Ready With Me videos to TikTok.
Earle often posts TikToks with her younger siblings to her millions of followers
According to Earle, Dupré’s advice was to remember: ‘Not everything is as crazy as it feels in the moment’
Charmed by her friendly personality and good looks, she soon had fans hanging off her every word and buying every product she recommended – dubbed the ‘Alix Earle Effect.’
The social media star isn’t shy about the her life, detailing her experience undergoing a breast augmentation, explaining she doesn’t want to set an unrealistic standard to her followers.
Earle’s father Thomas Earle married Dupré in 2013, after a high-profile split in 2008 from Earle’s mother Alisa, following rumors he had been cheating on Alisa with Dupré.
Thomas and Dupré went on to have three children together – Izabel, Penelope, and Thomas James – with Alix and her sister, Ashtin, from his marriage to Alisa.
Earle often posts about her mixed family life, including her siblings and parents in her TikToks.
In July, Earle faced backlash after she was spotted kissing the then-17-year-old grandson of Donna Karan at a Hampton’s club – just days after she went public with her rumored romance with NFL player Braxton Berrios.
However, a source with knowledge of the situation told DailyMail.com at the time that Alix and Braxton ‘never became official nor boyfriend/girlfriend.
‘Alix has stated repeatedly publicly that she wanted to have a fun summer with her friends and not jump into anything too serious,’ the source continued.
The insider added that Alix ‘did not know Sebastian was 17.’
