A heated dispute over a wedding guest’s white dress is raging online and has sparked much debate about what is and is not appropriate attire to see someone get married.
Kristina Drobach was surprised to see another guest, Lana Kaufman, wearing a floor-length white dress that made one of the venue’s staff members think she was the bride.
Online trolls criticized Lana as “tacky” and “narcissistic”, but she responded by stating that she chose white out of the four dress code colors on the invitation.
When Kristina saw Lana in her white two-piece maxi skirt and puff-sleeved crop top, she filmed her and shared a video on TikTok that blew up racking up 20 million views.
“This girl wore a legit WHITE dress to my friend’s wedding,” she wrote in the clip that angered many viewers.

A woman has caused a stir after she was filmed wearing a white dress at a friend’s wedding. Lana Kaufman (pictured) was criticized as ‘tacky’ and ‘narcissistic’ for her outfit choice
‘OMG, I would ask her to leave,’ one woman said, and another wrote: ‘Not okay, ever!’
“I’d be so mad, I don’t mind ruining anything, my wedding my rules,” someone else replied.
‘What was I thinking?’ a fourth asked and others said her outfit choice was for ‘pure attention,’ ‘tacky,’ and ‘narcissistic.’
But not everyone thought there was something wrong with Lana’s dress and many said it looked “stunning.”
‘She looks very pretty. I’m sure she didn’t mean to upset the bride. The bride’s dress was amazing!!’ one user commented.
‘OK? And it looks BEAUTIFUL,” added a second.
I don’t understand. It is not a wedding dress. I don’t see anything wrong, and maybe white wasn’t the best option, but I wouldn’t mind”, argued a third.
Lana found out about the viral controversy it created and opened her own TikTok account where she poked fun at the drama.
‘I came to the wedding in white and guess what happened?’ she said in a video, adding: “I just chose white out of the four dress code colors.”
In response, Kristina shared the story behind her video and a friend’s wedding and said that although she thought the saga was just a “stupid funny story”, she still thought the dress was inappropriate and is now fighting with the groom.
Guest Kristina Drobach shared a video of Lana’s dress online, forcing her to respond by stating that she chose white because it was part of the event’s dress code.
Kristina was invited to the wedding of her friend whom she has known for nine years and said the day had a ‘forest fairy’ theme where guests could wear ‘earth colours’ such as browns and greens.
“I personally chose a green dress. But when we got to the wedding, we were a little late and everyone was talking about this lady in this dress,” she explained in a follow-up video.
“Nobody told him there because they didn’t want to ruin the wedding and the atmosphere, but everyone was talking about it.”
Kristina said “several people” mistook Lana for the girlfriend, including one of the venue’s staff members.
“One of the workers at the place came up to my fiancée and asked her if she was the bride, that was before the actual bride came out,” he recalled.
She said her friend who was getting married was “extremely upset” when she saw Lana in the white dress before walking down the aisle.
Kristina claims that the bride was “really upset” about Lana’s dress and that several people thought she was the one getting married that day.
Kristina said there were two other white-clad guests at the wedding, including the mother of the bride, who she thought was “acceptable” and a woman in a short bandage dress.
“It wasn’t super cool, but it was okay, but this particular lady wore a full dress that looked like a legitimate wedding dress,” she said.
“I think it’s pretty well known around the world that you’re not supposed to upstage the bride and firstly wear white and secondly a white dress. I mean it’s just ethical standards.
Kristina watched the videos of Lana claiming that she chose white out of four different options, but she didn’t believe it.
“White might have been in the wedding vibes palette, but it’s just common sense that you don’t choose the color white as a guest, a female guest,” she said.
She then said she didn’t mean to offend Lana and deleted many “hateful” comments about her trolling that she had made on her video.
“It’s just a stupid funny story,” he said.
“The moral of the story is if you ever get invited to a wedding and if you’re a girl, make smart choices (about) the color of your dress and you’ll be fine.”
Kristina’s side of the story ignited the debate over whether it’s ‘appropriate’ or ‘acceptable’ to wear white to a wedding.
You can’t convince me that it never occurred to her that it might look like a wedding dress. Scream ‘look at me’ and only me,’ said one onlooker.
‘My friend had white in his color palette. When I asked they said it was part of the color theme for his wedding but obviously not to wear white,” he wrote a second.
‘All wedding invitations should now have *Don’t wear white or you’ll be kicked out* at the bottom,’ thought a third.
‘I don’t know why it’s so bad. It would be nice if a girl had a white dress at my wedding. Just don’t pick one too revealing,” one woman disagreed.
‘I think I’m the only one who doesn’t care about this. I told everyone to wear what they want,” someone else replied.
