Taylor Swift sent royal fans into a frenzy as she appeared to take style inspiration from the Princess of Wales at last night’s Grammys.

The pop sensation, 34, made history last night when she became the first artist to ever win four Album of the Year awards – having previously been tied with Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Simon for the record.

For the 66th Annual Grammys Awards, the singer – who announced her new album The Tortured Poets Department at the awards – wore a strapless white square-necked gown with a thigh-high split.

As she arrived on the red carpet, Taylor was pictured wearing a pair of black velvet opera gloves, which reminded royal watchers of Kate Middleton’s outfit from last year’s BAFTAs in London.

Last February, the Princess of Wales, 42, tweaked an old Alexander McQueen white one-shoulder gown for the awards and completed her outfit with black opera gloves.

Shortly after Taylor arrived at the awards, royal fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, commented on how closely the pop star’s outfit resembled Kate’s 2023 BAFTA look.

One gushed: ‘Taylor Swift giving Catherine, Princess of Wales vibes and looking spectacular!’

‘Taylor knows red carpet style when she sees it,’ another added.

A third said: ‘As soon as I saw her, I thought about the Princess of Wales. [It is] such a [fire] look.’

‘Two beautiful, classy women twinning,’ a fourth replied.

Meanwhile, a fifth asserted: ‘Taylor Swift got inspiration from Princess Catherine on her Grammy outfit.’

Wood said after his chat with the future king: ‘We were talking about the tour and I said “come on, you’ve got to come out on tour” and we were talking about the new album and everything. William said [he would] if we could get Taylor Swift there.’

In November 2013, William joined the US popstar on stage at a fundraising gala for an impromptu performance with Jon Bon Jovi.

Eight years later, William admitted that he obeyed ‘like a puppy’ when glamorous pop star Swift ordered him on stage for an impromptu performance with Jon Bon Jovi.

Recalling a fundraising gala in November 2013 for the homeless charity Centrepoint, a cause first championed by his late mother Princess Diana, the prince said: ‘I can’t believe I’m actually telling you this story… I turn up and Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift are at the event, which nearly knocked me off my feet.

‘And then, I went inside, met everybody, a lot of handshaking to do those nights, a lot of chatting. I try and be charming and interactive. Occasionally, you’re not having a good day, and it’s a little harder to come by.

‘When I sat down to watch Jon Bon Jovi do his performance, I thought, “That’s it. My job is done. I’ll get a dinner in a minute, and I might be able to have a chat to some people, and, you know, I’m off-duty a little bit now.” ‘

While accepting the award for Album of the Year, Taylor said: ‘I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th.’

‘It’s called The Tortured Poet’s Department. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage.’

Keeping true to her word minutes later Taylor – who also earned her fourth Album Of The Year at the show – shared the racy cover for her upcoming 11th studio album, which saw her laying on a bed in black underwear and a sheer black top, and caused her Instagram page to temporarily go down.

Taylor Swift, 34, used her 13th Grammy Award win on Sunday to announce a surprise new album coming out on April 19th

Swift started out her speech by sharing that it was her 13th award – a number she considers lucky.

‘Okay, this is my 13th grammy. Which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that.’

‘I want to say thank you to the members of the recording academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the recording academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.’

Minutes after she left the stage, the artwork for the new album was shared to her Instagram, with the caption: ‘All’s fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19 [white heart emoji].’

She also posted a photo of a handwritten note that read: ‘And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink / All’s fair in love and poetry…’

She signed off the text with: ‘Sincerely, The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department.’

The album announcement received over 7 million likes in just an hour.
