Twelve years ago, Katie’s parents quit their jobs as electricians and managers to take care of the farm.

Katie was just four years old and the family has been on their farming journey together ever since.

Appearing on the show, the 16-year-old said: “At that age, it was like a great adventure and I wanted to learn more about the farm.”

‘How can we improve the welfare of our cattle and all that?’

‘I learned it from what other people have said and by watching other agricultural shows.

Many who watched were in awe of Katie’s positive attitude, with some calling her “a credit to her family.”

‘I try to keep up with current information. So many things are changing with agriculture, so it’s sometimes quite difficult to know what is currently happening.’

The teenager said that she starts her morning chores on the farm at 7 am

Her first job is to feed the nine lambs, and the teenager adds: “In the morning, you’re still a little sleepy and you come out here and the noise wakes you up.”

Of all the sheep on the farm, Katie is responsible for 30 of the animals, about a quarter of them.

If her ewes give birth, she is in charge of the lambs, which she raises and sells independently of the main flock.

Appearing on the show, Katie revealed that she always saw life on the farm as “an adventure” (pictured)

‘I’m planning to go for an agriculture course, it will be worth it for sure.’

Meanwhile, her mother, Kirsten, said she hopes her daughter will one day take over the farm.

She said: ‘Katie told me that if she didn’t have the farm, she might get stressed.

“Part of me thinks I can’t wait to think, ‘Now that I’m old enough, this is what I want to do. I want to stop doing that and just do this.'”
