Where Is The Republic Day 2024 Parade?

In Delhi, the epicenter of the festivities is Rajpath, where the parades started showcasing the Indian army, navy, air force, police, and paramilitary units.

 The Republic Day 2024 parade started at 10:30 am on January 26, tracing its route from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path. 

The venue is poised to host around 77,000 individuals, of which 42,000 slots are allocated for the general public.

This year’s themes is to resonate with the sentiments of “Viksit Bharat” and “Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka,” underscoring India’s fundamental qualities as a developed nation and the embodiment of democracy.

French President Emmanuel Macron is poised to be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations this year. 

Arrived at Jaipur airport on January 25, Macron’s itinerary includes visiting prominent landmarks, including Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal. 

While in Jaipur, he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Later that evening, the French president will travel to Delhi.

On January 26, he witnessed the Republic Day Parade as the Chief Guest. Following the parade, Macron will participate in the ‘At Home’ Reception hosted by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan.  

1. For The First Time, An All-women Tri-services Group Will Participate In The Parade

On January 22, Major General Sumit Mehta announced that, for the first time, an all-women tri-services group will participate in the Republic Day Parade. 

The group includes women troops from the Army’s military police and personnel from the other two services, as reported by ANI. 

This marks a significant and historic moment, showcasing the inclusion and recognition of women in various roles within the country’s military at the Republic Day celebrations. 

 The groundbreaking contingent is featuring women troops from the Army’s military police, alongside women representing the other two services. 

Major General Sumit Mehta also confirmed that two of the three living Param Vir Chakra awardees, Hony Captain Yogendra Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, are slated to participate in the Republic Day parade.

2. R-day Parade Participant Also Participating In The French Bastille Day Parade

Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, an air traffic controller in the Indian Air Force and a graduate of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, has participated in the Republic Day parade this year. 

Her notable presence is marked by her previous participation in the Bastille Day parade in Paris last July, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief guest. 

Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav’s inclusion underscores the diverse and accomplished individuals contributing to the Republic Day celebrations.

French President Emmanuel Macron is the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations, marking him as the sixth French leader to grace this esteemed annual event. 

In addition to his presence, a significant representation from France will include a 95-member marching contingent, a 33-member band contingent, two Rafale fighters, and an Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft. 

This participation underscores India and France’s strong diplomatic ties and collaborative spirit, adding a distinctive international flavor to the Republic Day festivities. 

Captain Louis, a member of the Corps of the French Foreign Legion, emphasized the role played by this historic military unit. 

Originating in 1831, the Legion comprises approximately 9,500 officers and legionnaires representing nearly 140 nationalities. Lieutenant Romain Bression further underscored that the participation of the French team in the Republic Day celebrations reflects the strengthening of defense cooperation between India and France. 

This collaboration is a testament to the enduring diplomatic and military ties between the two nations. 

4. French Military Team To Include Six Indians In Republic Day Parade

Six Indians are part of the French military team marching alongside Indian contingents on the 75th Republic Day parade, as confirmed by officials to PTI. 

Captain Noel Louis, the commander of the French marching contingent, announced the participation of these individuals in the French team. 

The list comprises CCH Sujan Pathak, CPL Dipak Arya, CPL Parbin Tandan, Gurvachan Singh, Aniket Ghartimagar, and Vikas Djeassegar. 

Their involvement reflects a unique collaboration and cultural exchange between India and France during this national celebration. 

5. Republic Day Parade To Feature Saree Extravaganza

One of the notable events this year is the exhibition called ‘Anant Sutra,’ organized by the Culture Ministry, featuring a display of sarees representing diverse Indian states and union territories, as reported by ANI. 

The textile installation named ‘Anant Sutra – The Endless Thread’ will be showcased at Kartavya Path, situated behind the seated audience. 

The installation will exhibit approximately 1,900 sarees and drapes originating from various regions of India, artistically arranged on wooden frames along Kartavya Path. 

Each saree will incorporate QR codes, enabling visitors to scan and gather information about the weaving and embroidery methods.

Amita Prasad Sarbhai, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, revealed that the installation encompasses a 150-year-old saree, serving as a tribute to the women and weavers of India. 

6. Parade Space To Be Taken By AI

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is to present a tableau in the Republic Day Parade, showcasing the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) across various domains. 

The tableau aims to depict practical applications of AI, featuring a scene where a teacher utilizes a VR headset for educating children. 

Additionally, it will highlight the contributions of AI in logistics and cattle management. 

JL Gupta, the Director of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, shared insights with ANI, explaining that this year’s tableau is focused on showcasing the advantages of AI-based technology for the public. 

The presentation will also highlight the positive impact of AI in the healthcare sector. The display featured semiconductor chips in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for electronic manufacturing. 

7. A Special Focus Will Be Placed On Chandrayaan-3 By ISRO

According to ANI, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is showcasing its tableau at the Republic Day Parade, highlighting the accomplishments of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. 

The tableau will prominently depict the launch and triumphant landing of Chandrayaan-3, with particular emphasis on its successful touchdown at the moon’s South Pole. 

8. The French Has Also Included In The Flypast

A French refueling aircraft and two French Rafale aircraft has participated in an impressive flypast. 

The aerial display highlighted cutting-edge vehicles like Terrain, Light Specialist, and Special Mobility Vehicles. 

Among the noteworthy participants are the ALH Dhruv Rudra and LCH Prachand aircraft. 

The Indian Air Force flypast, comprising 51 planes encompassing fighters, helicopters, and transport aircraft, has included the participation of 15 women aviators. 

9. An Invitation Is Extended To Special Guests

During a press conference held in New Delhi on January 19, Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane announced that around 13,000 special guests, including high achievers in various fields and beneficiaries of government initiatives, have been invited to witness the parade. 

Stressing the government’s commitment to Jan Bhagidari, the Defence Secretary quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that these guests symbolize the nation’s pride. 

The special guests are individuals who have excelled in various government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Street Vendor’s Aatmanirbhar Nidhi, PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, PM Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojna, PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, and Stand-Up India scheme. 

Additionally, attendees include Sarpanches of Vibrant Villages, women workers of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, professionals in the electronic manufacturing sectors, contributors to the Central Vista Project, women space scientists of ISRO, yoga teachers associated with Ayushman Bharat, winners of international sports events, Paralympic medalists, outstanding Self-Help Groups, Farmers Producer Organisations, participants in the PM Mann ki Baat program, and the ‘Super-100’ of Project Veer Gatha 3.0, along with winners of the National School Band Competition.
