Three foods to avoid, according to a nutritionist

  • Canned mushrooms
  • Uncleaned shrimp
  • Artificial vanilla

‘Three gross things that, as a nutritionist, I’ll never eat and you shouldn’t either,’ Leanne said at the beginning of the video.

The first food she told viewers to avoid was canned mushrooms.

‘Did you know you can have, according to the FDA, 20 or more maggots per 100 grams of mushrooms? That includes the juice that they are in,’ the expert said.

She explained that instead of cutting mushrooms out of your diet for good, just opt for fresh versions of the vegetable.

‘You can wash them, you can dry them, you can chop them up fresh,’ she added.

Next, Leanne advised viewers to stay away from the ‘vein’ on the back of shrimp.

She said: ‘Number two is shrimp. Well, I still love shrimp, but you know that vein that’s on the back of them? That’s not a vein, that’s their intestinal tract. That’s shrimp poop.

‘Pull that vein out before you cook them for heaven sakes and enjoy your shrimp.’

‘Number three is artificial vanilla. You want to know what that is? It’s castoreum. You know what it’s made out of? Castor sax from beavers.

‘It’s in their butts. Who wants beaver butt in their vanilla ice cream? I sure don’t, instead go with pure vanilla extract,’ she said at the end of the video.

People flooded the comments section and expressed their shock at Leanne’s revelations.

One person said: ‘The vanilla thing threw me off.’
