The infamous flag-lowering ceremony, performed by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers, consists of complex dance-like motions and astonishingly high leg raises.

This daily practice brings thousands of people from both sides of the border, who come together to observe the sight.

Who posted the viral video from the wedding?

A recent viral video, on the other hand, showed a group of men disguised as Pakistani army personnel participating in the foot-stomping ritual at a wedding, which left viewers both curious and entertained.

“There is no need to travel to Wagah! Simply get married. Or go to a wedding! Have fun! The second option is the safer one!” read the caption of a video posted on the microblogging site ‘X,’ in which men do the foot-stomping technique and receive payment, similar to traditional drummers at weddings.

While this happened at a Pakistani wedding, an Indian user published it, eliciting a variety of reactions from the public.

How did people on the internet react?

“We should also do this – Hamare yahan Shadi, Kitty Party ke orders liye jaate hain,” chimed in one person. Another joked, “Post-retirement startup idea for BSF personnel,” while a third jokingly referenced Pakistan’s economic situation, saying, “They monetized it given the state of their economy.”

In a contrasting setting, Anupam Kher greeted soldiers and fans warmly when he visited the Attari-Wagah Border to attend the Beating Retreat event. The Kashmir Files actor took centre stage in a video shared on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), addressing the gathering crowd with ‘Mere pyaare Bharat wasiyo.’

He started a chant of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ and even sang the song ‘Dil Diya Hai Jaan Bhi Denge’ from Karma. Anupam considered his participation in the ceremony to be an ‘honour and privilege.
