According to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation, the pet owner, Sawangjit Kosoongnern, was legally permitted to keep the lion in Ratchaburi province.

How was the situation tackled after the video went viral?

However, she was not permitted to transport the pet to a different place without prior consent.

“Therefore, Sawangjit did violate laws concerning the taking of a wild animal out in public and moving its location without prior permission,” said Atthaphon Charoenchansa, chief of the department.

As a result, she might face up to six months in prison and a maximum punishment of 50,000 baht (US$1,400).

Police later revealed that the driver was Sawangjit’s acquaintance from India, and they are still looking for him. Check the video below.
