The Swedish royal family was in Stockholm today in full force to celebrate their country’s National Day.
Crown Princess Victoria, 45, could be seen beaming with a smile as she donned traditional attire to celebrate the occasion.
June 6 is a notable date, as Gustav Vasa was elected king in 1523 and made Sweden an independent country as it broke away from the Danish-ruled Kalmar Union.
Today has been a public holiday since 2005, but Swedes have been celebrating the day long before.
Princess Victoria was joined by her husband Prince Daniel, 49, and they were pictured opening the castle’s western gates at 10am this morning.
The Swedish royal family seemed united when they opened the castle gates to the public this morning, who will be able to enter for free today.
Traditionally, the Royal Palace is open to the public with free admission on National Day and all are welcome.
The royal couple also brought along their children, Princess Estelle, 11, and Prince Oscar, seven, who also sported clothing rich in history.
The mother-daughter duo combined the blues and yellows of the traditional ‘Sverigedräkten’ costume.
This consists of a white shirt or blouse, a blue skirt or dress, and a yellow overskirt in the colors of the Swedish flag.
While Prince Daniel and Oscar wore smart navy blue suits complete with matching sapphire blue ties.
