An American man challenged to try food at different British restaurant chains filmed his first experience of a visit to Nando’s.

Uploading a video to his account on TikTok, @kalanighosthunter tucked into a list of dishes at the popular peri peri chicken joint .

After making his own DIY chicken sandwich at the recommendation of a viewer, Kalani said it ‘buries’ a top fast food chain that is popular around the world.

Having ordered a butterfly chicken with garlic bread, chips and halloumi, the vlogger constructs his own sandwich, placing the chicken and halloumi between the pieces of garlic bread.

Adding extra sauce to the sandwich after his bite, Kalani nods in satisfaction before revealing that he thinks it ‘buries KFC’, adding that it was ‘not even in the same ballpark’.

Summarising his review, Kalani gave his experience at Nando’s an ‘eight out of ten’.

He was highly complimentary of the chicken, which he described as ‘juicy and nicely seasoned, adding that the brand’s signature peri peri sauce was a ‘nice touch’.

Moving on to the chips, he said they were ‘a good level of crispy’ but scored them slightly less favourably than the chicken, giving the fries ‘six and a half’ out of ten.

While other users were keen to point Kalani in the direction of other traditional British foods, one noted the lack of a trademark Nando’s sauce on his meal, commenting: ‘That needs a layer of perinaise on both garlic breads’.

A second urged him to try the Cockney classic of pie and mash, posting: ‘A traditional pie and mash shop is a must.

‘You have to get liquor not gravy and plenty of vinegar and pepper.’

Another wrote: ‘While you are here you need to try our full English breakfast’.

A fourth added: ‘Try Percy Pig sweets and a Colin the Caterpillar cake from Marks & Spencer.’
