Will Atherton (@iamwillatherton) was shown playing with his dog in a video posted to TikTok.

“A puppy bite can be incredibly infuriating,” he prefaced.

Some dogs, however, don’t get over their restless phase.

“Then it becomes incredibly dangerous,” he warned.

Recounted a Labrador whose bites did not improve with age.

For the sake of the children who live around the dog, Will shared how he trained the animal.

“First of all I had to assess if there is any aggression behind this bite? Or is it a game?

“Luckily, it was just for the excitement, the playful and learned behavior,” he said.

He shared his two-part approach to improving aggressive behavior.

“I have to teach the dog that the behavior is unacceptable in a loving way that the dog understands and then teach it what I want it to do,” he said.

He said his double technique helped the dog adjust to not biting.

“You put those two things together and you can very quickly take a dog from being a nightmare biter to never biting a human again,” he said as he gave the dog a chew toy so it wouldn’t bite.

The video drew many dog owners in the comments section.

“This is exactly what I needed,” wrote one. “This is the mistake I made with my dog.”
