A dog expert has discovered about five breeds that could use a little more care than new owners are willing to give.

It’s crucial for a potential pet owner to know that some puppies require more exercise, training, and even grooming than others.

Pet food company Purina compiled a list of high-maintenance breeds to warn prospective dog owners before committing.

One incredibly popular breed that surprisingly made the list was the Labradoodle.

While many people go for the breed because of its incredibly cute appearance and friendly demeanor, most prospective owners don’t know how much it might cost to keep up with grooming.

The golden, curly hair of the Labradoodle can easily become tangled and dirty, meaning owners would need to brush them or keep their hair very short.

Another breed infamous for its beauty routine is the Afghan Hound.

The Afghan hound always attracts attention with its exotic beauty and surprisingly smooth long coat.

However, looks don’t come cheap, as the breed might require daily grooming.

“She needs daily brushing, a bath once a week, careful drying with a blow dryer or sandblasting, oil treatments, careful wrapping, trimming, and mealtime snoods,” Purina writes.

This upcoming breed also has a beautiful shaggy coat, but their energy levels are really what can make them a high-maintenance option.

Border collies are intelligent, fun to be around, and excel at dog sports, but this means they require a lot of stimulation.

Experts recommend that pet owners steer clear of the breed unless they have plenty of land or time to run around with their pup.

Another high-maintenance unsuspecting breed is the French Bulldog.

Despite unseating the Labrador’s 31-year reign as the world’s most popular dog, Frenchies often face a list of potential health problems.

The potential owner should have a good amount of savings to buy the purebred puppy and keep up with the expensive vet appointments.

And finally, it’s no surprise that a Siberian husky isn’t the ideal pet for someone cooped up in a small apartment in the height of summer.

Huskies have adapted to survive harsh winters and can pull a snow sled up to 100 miles per day.

They also have layers and layers of fur that will inevitably shed like crazy as the weather gets warmer.

Experts warn that if a Siberian husky doesn’t live in the right environment or doesn’t get enough exercise, then your couch could become their new chew toy.

The list comes as another dog expert has revealed the breeds that grow the most, with a 900 percent increase after birth.

And this dog trainer warned that a breed is a self-described monster that could kill a pack of wolves.
