Bianca Suárez, 39, and her fiancé, Mark Rodgers, 43, got engaged in February 2009, but things kept going and they never got married. That was until Bianca’s ailing great-grandmother, Margaret Ripley, 99, told a staff member at her nursing home that she feared she might not live long enough to see them get married.

As a result, the staff recommended that Bianca and Mark, a worker, finally spend their big day at the facility, allowing Margaret to walk Bianca down the aisle.

“We were going to try to save enough money this year to get married next year, but it seemed nan wouldn’t be here,” said Bianca, a caretaker from Woking, Surrey.

Organizing the wedding on such short notice was stressful, but Mark and Bianca were helped by nursing home employees and their loved ones.
